bogus (another error: not enough memory)

first, i want to say, this was an awesome concept of a game for me. i'm sure there are others similar, but this is my first where the humans are kinda the bad guy taking over the universe. and the intro movie of the second savior being crucified, man, ppl come up with some insane game ideas.

i played this game all the way to the point where u tow the fifth altar piece back to the place, to open the portal (hopefully the universal heart, but i doubt the game is over yet) its where u have to protect juno, destroy those dang guys who use the rocks to make more ships (pain in the arse they is)

so, i finally kill them all, bring the piece, do one more round of defense waiting for the portal to open. it opens, i proceed to go through. as soon as i got to the portal point, screen goes white aaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnddddd boom, error: not enough memory 5499004 (maybe not the exact number, but i dont think it matters) i see other posts of ppl getting same error but a different number. i played this game flawlessly on high settings absolutely no bugginess glitchiness or anything. maybe the game is a tad to hard, but i edited my genes in the save file text so all are level 10 and my blood is 900,000 i'm wondering if that caused the problem, but i doubt it since i did that at the begining of the game (only after dieing 100 times on the mission right after u initally enter the life wave gallaxy, where u can chose caravan or cybreed )

when i got the error, i tried to click retry, but nothing. eventually i just alt+tabbed out and ended the program in task manager. i'm hoping it saved it somehow and i continue in the next part. please no spoilers for whats coming up. if it didnt save, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

my ok pc specs are :
amd 3500+ 2.2 ghz
mobo nforce 4-939 with hyper threading
fx card nvidia 7600 gs 256 mb pci xpress 16 driver: 6.14.0010.9371 released 10-22-06. pretty sure its the latest i'll check though.
1 gig centon pc3200 ddr dual channel ram
direct x version 9.0c 4.09.0000.0904
windows xp wit service pack 2, is up to date through last month, i'll check to see whats up this month. not sure which .net framework i'm on, prolly the 1.1 one if need be i'll check.

i do play battlefield 2142 with no problems, and delta force xtreme no problems and many other games no problems. most settings on medium if not high or ultra high. everything is smooth and genesis was beautiful up to that point. if the debugger guys need a more detailed specs of my pc, tell me what u need and i'll try to find out. i'm not a moron with pc's but i'm not a whiz. i'm probably slightly below intermediate.

awesome game dreamcatcher. hope to get the situation resolved asap. hopefully it saved (doubtful though) I MUST FIND THE UNIVERSAL HEART. AND THAT WOMAN SAID SHE WOULD GIVE ME SWEET LOVE WHEN I CAME BACK TO EARTH LOL

****, you put so many spoilers in this post.. I didn't even get passed the first "level" yet when I got this error, and you're tellin me about women promising sweet love already! It's okay, I'm forgetting most of what you said. :P The dates on the posts in this forum are rather discouraging, though. I do hope a patch is being released for this soon.
